An English overview of the research literature, historical studies and commentaries in Filipino and English, as well as a description of the philosophy, goals and activities of sikolohiyang Pilipino in English should prove useful to the Interested English reader, The second edition includes a discussion of Filipino psychology as an international movement, and a brief documentation of the more recent efforts towards the decolonization of the Filipino psyche. Virgilio G. Enriquez is a pioneer in the development of an indigenous viewpoint in psychology. He was in the forefront of the movement which paved the way for the propagation of an indigenous orientation in social research which is founded on ethical and culturally appropriate research methods. From this perspective, several important social psychological concepts have been tapped and developed leading to a more accurate understanding of the Filipino and his social reality.
