John Schumacher, a naturalized Filipino citizen and professor of Church History at the Loyola School of Theology, Ateneo de Manila University, holds a Ph.D. in history from Georgetown University. He has done extensive research in Spanish, Vatican, American and Philippine archives on nineteenth-century Filipino nationalism, and on various aspects of Philippine church history.
